1st Day of Third Grade

My little boy is growing up. I can't believe that he is starting Third grade! Where has the time gone. I took some vacation hours from work so that I could see him off and give a good well balanced breakfast. The breakfast that he chose was oatmeal! He had the low-sugar peaches and cream and he chose the low sugar strawberries and cream for Ellie. I peeled a orange for him and a glass of milk and there you go... a balanced breakfast to start the day out right.

Poor Ellie. She cried when the bus came and Hayden got on it. She had her backpack on as well and wanted to go with Hayden. I tried to explain to her that she has 3 more years but I don't think she quite understood.

Well, I off to work. Three more weeks until my school starts!!!! I am so excited. I have got all my books already. I am such a nerd. ;-)

Ellie's First Hair Cut

I was taking Hayden to get his haircut before school starts in a week and a half and thought I would also have Ellie get her first hair cut. Boy was she excited! She wouldn't stop talking about it. When we got there... she was very bashful and quiet for majority of the time. hehehe.

There wasn't much change to her hair. Just a trim in the back and some bangs. As Hayden put it, "It just looks the same!" We have a little lock of her hair. My kids are growing too fast.

Weight Loss Chart.

I have put a weight loss chart on the left hand side of my page. Instead of putting my ultimate weight goal as the end goal weight I have put in smaller goals amounts with the first being 300lbs then it will 250 lbs, then 200 lbs, and so on. I figured it would help my motivation to see that scale moving a little faster than a macro millimeter at a time. hehehe.

Getting Healthy

Sometimes it is hard to get motivated to get healthy and exercise but now I am motivated by my son. I need to do it for his sake and his health. He is a little overweight but I never believed it to be extreme. I got this book Trim Kids. It is a 12-week program to gets kids to eat healthier and become more active. It more a family program then just the individual kid because the parent is the coach and cheerleader and the parents needs to be a good role model... anyways... In this book one needs to figure out the child's BMI to know what level the child is. Level I - Red is severely overweight. Level II - Yellow is overweight. Level III - Green is at risk for overweight and Level IV - Blue is healthy weight. Hayden is Level I with a BMI of 23. This is scary for me! He is 91 lbs and 53" tall. For him to be a healthy weight for his height he needs to be at 70 lbs!

We will be starting the program tomorrow with healthier eating, needing to lay off the three glasses of Kool-Aid a day, and exercising 20 minutes a day. This books has some good recipes and plenty of exercises for kids to try out. I think it is going to fun. An interesting fact that was stated in the book was if one of the parents are overweight, than the child have a 40% chance of becoming an overweight adult and if both of the child's parents are overweight than the chance of the child becoming over weight doubles to 80%! I need to nip this in the bud. It not just affecting my life anymore.

My Handyman

My mailbox was pretty faded and rusting on the top but instead of buying a new one I thought I would just paint it. Hayden helped me and did a great job. He did some spraying and he was the one that screwed the mailbox back on the post. You should of seen him. He was beaming from ear to ear with pride. Here are some pics

He is such an awesome kid! I just can't get enough of him. He was a huge help during the last week or so when I had cellulitis. He has such a caring soul. He is the BEST!! He even was reading to his sister before bed because he didn't want me getting up and hurting my leg.

I have been blessed with two great kids. How did I become so lucky. :-)

On a side note: Four more weeks to school starts!!! Woohoo!!!

Dodged a Bullet!

I am glad that I am noticed for doing a good job but I feel kind of bad since I don't plan on it being a career thing. My career of choice is Nursing. I had gotten some kudos from VP of World Wide Customer Service a couple of months ago (Only one person between him and the CEO/Founder) and it just so happens that he was visiting today and wanted to meet with me. It freaked me out terribly. I was sweating, having heart palpitations, and anxiety. My manager stated that she didn't know when he will be stepping out of his meetings.... so needless to say.... as soon as 2:45 pm came around, I was outta there! Maybe if I different career path in mind I would love to meet him, but it is not for me.



Today I did a lot of walking around being an answer person. I didn't mind so much but towards the end of the day my leg was hurting... I chalked up to being overweight, out of shape, and swelling of the legs. I come home to relax and get into some shorts and I have a red spot on my leg. CELLULITIS!!! I have had it twice before since May 2006. It is annoying. I mean I have to take it somewhat serious because it is an infection and it can get pretty ugly quickly. Now I am going to have to go to the ER so that they can give me a shot of Rocephin in the butt and give me a prescription for antibiotics to take. They will also draw a pretty picture around the redness and tell me that if the redness goes outside the line to come back. I am just getting my dr bills paid off. Now it will be a $100 copay and then 10% of the procedures... Good grief.



Well, I better be getting to bed and get my leg up and put my warm compress on it. I will go to the ER tomorrow while the kids are visiting my ex.

School

It is official, I am going back to school! The loan has been approved and my tuition has been paid for. At first I was going to go to school full-time and not work BUT since I am such a steller worker my employer is strongly encouraging me to work part-time. They stated they will work with my school schedule. I just have to talk to HR and HR has to talk with the Work Flow Analysts to see if they can get that worked out.

It would be benificial in a lot of ways if I continued working as least for another year. Once I start Nursing school I will not work though. If it is meant to be it will work out. I have gotten to the point where I am not stressing about it and I am leaving it up the Big Guy Upstairs and you know what, everything it falling into place. It solidifies my notion that I am on the right road.

On a side note, I am having been drinking tea lately and I am seeing that I have more energy. My favorite is Salada Green Tea with Red Antioxidants. It is yummy to my tummy. At work they have a smorgashborg of different teas that I drink. Maybe it is the tea or maybe I am feeling better because my life it getting back on track. Whatever it is... I am likeing it.
